Ontario licensing
The road test
This page covers Ontario only. Québec licenses drivers under its own Code de la sécurité routière through the SAAQ, a separate regime this section does not cover — see the fines and demerit-point pages for the material that does treat both provinces. Ontario’s graduated system runs each learner through two road tests: the level 1 exit test (G1→G2, M1→M2) and the level 2 exit test (G2→G, M2→M). Both are examined the same way under the regulation, and neither comes with a published fault count or minimum duration — the examiner’s judgment of the drive is the rule, and this page states that as the finding it is.
Draft for review. Every figure on this page is transcribed from the instrument cited beside it; the reviewer of record has not signed the values off. Check the cited provision before relying on an amount.

How the road test is graded
Ontario’s graduated system runs a car-track applicant through two on-road exams (the level 1 test from G1 to G2, then the level 2 test from G2 to full G) and a motorcycle-track applicant through the equivalent pair (M1 to M2, then M2 to full M). Both levels are examined under the same regulatory standard.
