Draft for review — figures are sourced but not yet signed off.

Overview

About

A reference tool for two provinces, built to show its sources rather than ask you to trust it.

Draft for review. Every figure on this page is transcribed from the instrument cited beside it; the reviewer of record has not signed the values off. Check the cited provision before relying on an amount.

Overview

What this site is

Ticketmètre works out what a traffic ticket costs in Ontario and in Québec, and shows the instrument behind every figure. It is a reference tool: no account, no form that stores anything, no advertising, and no connection to any court, ministry or insurer.

The two provinces price traffic offences through structurally different machinery — an administrative schedule outside the statute in Ontario, formulas and ranges inside the statute in Québec — so every surface here is stamped with the province it belongs to. A number that does not say which province it is from would be wrong in one of the two.

How it works

How the figures get here

Every amount, threshold and points count on this site is transcribed from the primary instrument cited beside it and stored as data, not written into a page. The calculators run a separate engine over that data. Nothing here is an estimate, an average or a typical figure, and where a figure could not be sourced it does not appear at all.

Each instrument also carries its own currency date, shown with its citation: the Highway Traffic Act consolidation read for this site is current to 1 July 2026, the Québec CSR and CPP consolidation is «à jour au 2 avril 2026», and the Québec Tarif's amounts are re-indexed annually by a notice published outside the regulation itself. One site-wide “current as of” line would be wrong about at least one of them.

Scope

The limits, stated rather than hidden

Two provinces are covered: Ontario and Québec. The other eleven provinces and territories are UNMEASURED here — they have not been read for this site, which is not the same as saying they are absent from Canada's fine landscape. Nothing on this site is a national claim.

Municipal by-law offences, parking above all, are out of scope: they are priced by hundreds of individual municipalities. This site prices provincial offences.

And where the instruments do not settle a question, this site says so and shows both readings rather than picking one. Those open questions sit on the pages they belong to, not in a footnote.

Scope

What this site covers

  • Covered

Ontario and Québec only. Those are the two jurisdictions whose instruments have been read for this site, and every figure here belongs to one of them.

  • Unmeasured here

Eleven further provinces and territories are UNMEASURED here — that means they have not been read for this site, not that they are absent from Canada’s fine landscape. Nothing on this site is a national claim.

  • Out of scope

Municipal by-law offences — parking above all — are priced by roughly four hundred municipalities and are out of scope. This site prices provincial offences.

Start with the number on your own notice

Then read the instrument beside it, and decide what to do next.
